after the indulgent holidays, I wanted to reset my eating habits so I boiled up this tea and made sure the entire family had some too! The original version of this tea is known as kahwa tea – it’s rich in antioxidants, aroma, and a spicy, warming taste. The beautiful color comes from the fresh turmeric. I didn’t add any sweetener but you can add some high quality honey or agave if you’d like.
I selected the ingredients for this tea after doing my own research so would recommend you do the same as I’m certainly not medically trained. Feel free to adjust quantities and ingredients to align with your tastes. Let me know if you make this exact recipe or a derivative of it!
Ingredients
1 tbs grated fresh turmeric
1 tbs grated fresh ginger
2-3 cloves
1 stick of cinnamon
Lemongrass
Pinch of asafoetida (hing), rock salt, black pepper, cardamom, and nutmeg
3 packets of green tea
4 cups of water
Method
Boil all of the ingredients together for 4-5 minutes, strain, and enjoy while hot. Optionally squeeze in lemon before drinking
