these soft, fluffy buns are amazing!! They are a little intensive because of the “rest” time, but with a little planning in the morning, you can enjoy these for dinner. We eat them most often with pav bhaji, but they are so good just toasted with butter too. I haven’t tried making them vegan, but I believe you can substitute vegan milk and butter and get similar results. Let me know if you try making these!
INGREDIENTS
1 ¼ cup warm milk
2 tsp sugar
1 packet quick yeast
1 ½ cup all purpose flour
1 ½ cup whole wheat flour
½ tsp salt
2 tbs softened butter
METHOD
1 Activate the yeast by combining 1 cup of the warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl
2 Add the flours and salt and knead until the dough is formed
3 Add the butter and knead the dough. Let the dough rest covered for 2 hours in a warm place
4 Punch the dough and knead it slightly to the remove air
5 Form dough balls and place in a greased tray
6 Brush the tops of the dough balls with milk
7 Cover the dough balls and let rest for 20-30 min
8 Preheat the oven to 350F and bake for 20 min until the pav turn golden brown
9 Remove the pav from the oven and pour the remainder ¼ cup of milk over the top and also spread the tops with butter. Co
10 Let cool slightly and enjoy warm with a little bit of butter either plain or with your favorite spicy accompaniment (e.g. pav bhaji, missal pav, vada pav)
