if your family are not tofu fans because they find it tasteless, then save this recipe immediately because their mind is going to be blown away by how delicious and spicy this dish is. I baked the tofu in the air fryer so it’s pretty healthy too!
INGREDIENTS
For the covering:
1 package extra firm tofu
¼ cup cornstarch
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp red pepper flakes 1 tsp brown sugar
For the sauce:
1 heaping tbs each sriracha and sambale
1 tbs soy sauce or hoisin sauce
For the gravy:
1 tbs sesame oil
2 tbs each finely chopped garlic and ginger
1 serrano pepper, sliced at a diagonal
¼ cup each finely chopped onion and bell peppers (optional)
¼ cup green onion, sliced at a diagonal
1 tsp each sambale and sriracha
2 tsp rice vinegar
1 tsp soy sauce or hoisin sauce
Garnish – sesame seeds, cilantro and green onions
INSTRUCTIONS
1 Press tofu and cut into 1 inch cubes
2 Whisk together all covering ingredients and toss the tofu in the cornstarch. Once all tofu pieces are covered evenly, add the sauce ingredients and toss gently
3 Bake for 20 min in a 400F oven OR air fry for 10 min at 400F until golden brown
4 For the gravy, heat the sesame oil and sauté all ingredients except the rice vingegar for 2 min
5 Gently fold in the tofu, add the rice vinegar, and mix carefully 6 Garnish and enjoy hot with rice or noodles
